Asking Questions:![]() To succeed at a new job, the apprentice must ask questions. Foremen expect new apprentices to have questions, and they would rather the apprentice ask than make a mistake. Apprentices shouldn't worry about appearing "foolish" or unprepared for the job because they ask questions. The apprentice will only look foolish when they don't ask and a costly mistake is made. Questions should be directed to the foreman first or if he is busy ask an experienced Boilermaker to help. Look for someone who seems interested in doing a good job and who has shown support for the apprenticeship program. Ask questions that are short and to the point. Listen carefully to the answer that you receive and if you think it will help you remember, make note of the information. Then you won't have to keep asking the same question.
