XD02.01 INSTALL & TORQUE FASTENERS
The XD02.01 Install & Torque Fasteners Standard Task Evaluation (STE), established by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), allows qualified Boilermakers nationwide to work at any jobsite throughout the United States that requires this qualification.

Qualifying for this STE is a two-part process.
Part One: Written Test
Workers must first pass an online, 20-question written test. Tests are administered by BNAP certified STE Evaluators. There is a two-hour time limit for this test. The passing score for this test is 80%. Workers are tested on their knowledge of the following topics:
• Torque, tension, and bolting theory
• Proper torque calculations and settings
• Proper bolting sequences
• Tools and equipment
Part Two: Hands-on Performance Evaluation
After successfully passing the written test, the worker must pass the hands-on performance evaluation. This evaluation is administered by a BNAP certified STE Evaluator and must be performed at a BNAP-approved testing site. Workers have two hours to complete the hands-on performance evaluation.
During this evaluation, workers must successfully lift, transfer, place, and land a load. This evaluation involves numerous critical steps. Each step must be performed successfully for the worker to pass. All critical steps are must-perform steps. Workers will be graded on the following:
• Proper selection of tools
• Determination of bolting sequence
• Proper torque settings
• Inspection and installation of fasteners
