Training Center Quality Control Checklist
Training Center Information
Training Center Functionality (check all that apply)
Housekeeping - Training Center is clean and organized
Welding booths are functional
Availability - the training center is readily available for use by the members and/or new recruits
Shop safety has been evaluated and all issues have been addressed
Consumables are fully stocked
Minimum testing material kept on hand:
500 plate coupons
2,000 backing strips
300 tube coupons
Testing materials are recut no less than five (5) times before becoming scrap
Open welding electrodes are kept in an overn between 150 to 200 degrees
All MIG wire is removed daily and placed in sealed plastic or dry box that is moisture resistant
All TIG wire is kept in moisture-resistant containers
Stick and MIG test plates:
Cut 7" long out of 6" flat bar
Are at least 1/2" thick but not over 1"
Backing bars are 1/4" x 1" x 9"
Tube coupons are 5" long. Thickness may vary with training, but is no less than schedule 80 or greater than XXS
Scrap from plates is being used for arc gouge training
Training materials are being cut with plasma or torch using track burner
Proceeds from scrap are being put back into the local training center
Test Booths
All booths are set up for 6G tube training in all three positions of plate (horizontal 2G, vertical 3g, overhead 4G)
Test stands have proper mechanical devices to hold test coupons
Welding machines are set up outisde of the testing booths with leads and MIG guns run into booths
Grounds are run from machines to test stands with ground clamps no greater than 18" from work
No welding of any kind and no welding or tacking of test coupons occurs on test stands
